Family Camp

We headed to family camp this weekend with our church at Luther Park in Danbury Wisconsin, just about 30 minutes east of Hinkley.  We got up there Friday night and enjoyed camp fire time.  It was extremely hot & muggy so getting to sleep without AC was a bit tough, but we recalled a year ago when we were in Europe enduring heat & humidity without AC too.  We were able to share a cabin with 2 other families.  That meant we were able to get the kids to sleep and enjoy time taking with the other parents we were with.
Saturday, the bell rang and it was time for breakfast!  Camping this way is something I can handle.  Food was awesome, and there were always snacks and drinks for the kiddos.  Saturday morning, we had family tasks to complete including picking things out from nature for our family alter, coming up with 30 things we have in common, making silly and angry faces, and making a picture of our perfect living room.  Trying to keep the kids focused the whole morning was a bit tricky, but Paul and I worked on some things as Anna and Alex painted or had snacks.
Here, we are practicing silly faces
After we finished our tasks, we created a scrabble board outlining things related to our family.  Took a picture before gluing it together, which is now a part of our house.
Saturday afternoon was play and free time.  We enjoyed being in the lake, taking a boat ride, Anna & Paul went on a paddle boat and then the kids were determined to do more crafts.  That was Anna's favorite part of the entire weekend---all the crafts!!
Saturday night, another campfire.  By this time, our kids have clung on to other families and their kids-pretty cute.

Favorite songs included "Shake another Hand", "The Hippo Song" and "Jesus loves Me" with a different melody.  We enjoyed smores that night as well.
Sunday morning, we had a short worship outside.  After a HUGE brunch, we all headed home.  Kids are already counting down the days until family camp next week.  It was so much fun to have structured time away for us and focus on the 4 of us.

We were able to have lunch with Docia, Colten and Maren at Docia's on the way home was an extra special treat!
