Mom's 65th

Celebrated Mom's 65th at Buca tonight.  Jane, Ed, Kristin, Dick, Pam, the kids and Paul and I were able to help Mom celebrate!  Came back to our house for better than sex cake and a happy birthday song.

Maren's Cabin Weekend

We enjoyed our 6th annual trip up to Maren's cabin this weekend.  This has become a tradition ever since my dad passed away.  We've gone from me being pregnant, carrying Anna, having Docia with us, carrying Alex, having Chris join us, carrying Colten to now have Docia with baby #2 on the way!  And, we actually packed for the trip without our stroller (a first for us!)  But, we did have to include the miniature potty as Alex is very into potty training right now!  Bad news for me was I was just diagnosed with a stress fracture before the trip.  So, the boot had to come with and I was pretty restricted on what I could do.

Paul, Maren the kids & I headed up north Friday morning.  I wanted to get some good time on the north shore while the sun was still out.  We stopped for lunch at Tobie's and got to meet up with Pastor Benson who was on his way home from the cabin.  Stopped at Two Harbors for ice cream and Gooseberry for some good quality outdoor time.  The kids loved hiking, climbing up and down rocks, skipping over the water and even made it up over 100 steps by themselves!  Thankfully, we had Maren to man one of our kids as I couldn't participate in every activity.  Dinner was at a tiny cafe in Shroeder.  Got to Maren's cabin and watched the sun set and got the kids down for bed.  We waited for Docia, Chris and Colten and all quickly went to bed.

Saturday morning, everyone was up bright and early!  Had breakfast and headed out for the day.  We hiked Cascade Park (where the root beer falls are).  Kids did a great job hiking again!  Alex was a super star, and even stayed dry & used the little potty whenever he needed to.  We went up to Grand Marais to explore, have donuts, and had lunch at Sven & Ole's.  Kids loved going to the water.  We had each kid pick out their favorite rock to put in their backpacks to remember their families if they ever felt lonely at school.  We picked up food for dinner and headed back to Maren's cabin that afternoon.  Kids played at the cabin while Colten got a rest.  Anna enjoyed picking raspberries.  She was a crazy picker and always out in her straw hat looking for me.  The kids also got dipped into the water and thought that was a fun game.  We grilled out for dinner that night with hot dogs and smores.  Unfortunately, the bugs didn't cooperate and we had to actually eat inside.  The kids loved playing with Colten and following him around.  Such good buds!  Once we got the kids to bed, we played some cards and dominoes.  Docia and Maren were the big winners of the night.

Sunday, Paul & I had to head out early to get home for my mom's birthday.  We were able to stop in Duluth for lunch and enjoyed the sunshine day for a bit before heading on our way home.  Avoided traffic and made it back home in the nick of time!

Another fun year at Maren's cabin.  Always enjoy time with our friends :)

Kai-Chisago Days

Had a great weekend!  I was able to spend the night with Docia & Maren and enjoy some girl time.  Maren & I were able to go to Albertville the next day so I could get some back-to-school shopping done!  Paul brought the kids up to Green Lake that day.  Introduced the kids to the beauty of fair food at Kai-Chisago days.  Alex LOVED waffle dogs-hot dogs wrapped in waffles.  Got to stay overnight and play cards with Paul's parents and had lunch there with Craig, Tiff and the kids.  Rhonda really wanted to introduce the kids to the beauty of a small town parade.  Kids LOVED gathering up all the candy and freeze pops that were passed out.  Good times for all!

Deer Lake Fun

Paul was out of town this weekend so I headed up to Deer Lake with my sister and met my mom.  Friday night, we celebrated Buster's birthday and introduced Cooper to ice cream cones.  The kids loved having ice cream and watching Cooper with his first cone.  Saturday, I enjoyed some me time and got a good run in with sister and some fabric shopping with my mom.  Grandma made the kids new pillow cases, displayed below.  Saturday, Pam & Dick came up to the cabin as well.  They shared their love of "music on the lake" with us as we set sail in our boat to sunset music on the lake.  What a wonderful way to share a day.  Sunday, headed home with Kristin and had pizza for dinner at her house.  Made it through the weekend without Paul.  It was trying at times, but overall pretty fun!

Vikings Training Camp

Yes, I was crazy enough to take my kids to training camp.  But, I'm not crazy enough to go without the Vikings biggest fan, auntie Kiki!  This all started when I bought Anna a new Vikings shirt for the year and she told me she didn't like the Vikings and she liked the Twins.  In our house, that just won't do.  She had the same things to say about the Twins before she went to a game, so Kiki and I decided to take the kids down to training camp in Mankato.  Surprisingly, it wasn't that far away and the kids rode both ways without a movie (but not without singing the 1-877-cars 4 kids jingle over and over again).
We enjoyed watching the boys practice and show off their new quarterback.  Personally, I'm a Ponder fan.  Have you seen him?  He is H-O-T HOT.  It was running back day at camp and since AP is such a high demand autographer, we had to scratch a "lotto" ticket to see if we won a chance.  Here, Kiki is seeing if we were lucky....this year was not our year.

Anna is smiling and she is wearing her new shirt.  I did put it on her when she was half asleep and promised her donuts and treats if she kept it on.  Just saying, it works :)
SHOW ME YOUR HORNS
They had a lot of fun things for the kids to do.  After morning training camp ended, the kids did some coloring and had fun.  Here, Alex is on the obstacle course (with a little help from Kiki after he missed the first obstacle)
