Maren's Cabin Weekend

We had our annual trip up to Maren's cabin with our entire family, Docia, Chris and Colten and of course our fine host, Maren! Maren rode with us up and we were able to stop at Gordy's Hi-Hat for famous burgers (they were featured on diners, drive-ins and dives0. Yum Yum. Of course, Maren and I had to have a malt which meant we had no room for ice cream at DQ--tragedy! Made it up that night and got the kids to sleep well. Woke up Saturday to a beautiful day on the lake. We all went canoeing. Here are Anna & Alex taking their duffer responsibilities seriously. And, Paul and the kids

After being on the lake, we went to Lutsen to take the gondola up Moose mountain for lunch. After our Europe trip, we finally found what we needed then--a backpack leash for Alex. He looks so cute with it!

After lunch--with beautiful views outside! Came home for some rest time and Anna got to pick raspberries with Maren

Then, we went to Grand Marais. It was a big celebration weekend so our indecisiveness with choosing a restaurant paid off as there was a fair set-up downtown. We ate our way through the stands (corn dogs, corn on the cob, etc.) and the kids got to play in a big jumper. Capped off the night at Sydney's custard and rock throwing into the lake.

Next day was another gorgeous day. Before we left, we had to get some kayaking in.

And, time to say good-bye to Maren's cabin.

Had lunch at bluefin bay. While waiting for the food, it was time to throw more rocks. Maren supervised our kids---they had lots of fun.

Our family got another hike in on the way home-at Temperance. Alex did well and we got to see the river. Unfortunately, we didn't know what traffic awaited us and made it home super late (with almost maxed out children). But, another fun weekend with friends!!
