Marens Cabin

Paul & I made our way to Maren's cabin with Maren, Docia & Chris this past weekend. Our annual trip had to be moved to the summer since Docia & Chris are expecting baby Hogan around the time we normally go. We decided to have the kids stay at "camp green lake" with Grandma & Grandpa Mattson. It's a long drive and thought they'd enjoy quality time with their grandparents instead.

We drove up to Maren's cabin Friday night, stopping at North Branch for pizza (and ate with Rhonda & Wayne and the kids). We, of course, had to stop for ice cream at Dairy Queen in Two Harbors as well. We arrived at Maren's around 10:30 (her place is just a bit north of Lutsen). Saturday morning, we hiked around Maren's cabin a bit. Unfortunately, it started sprinkling. It was very unfortunate when we had to hike back to our car for a mile on the wide open highway. Princess Julie was not happy. We had lunch at Bluefin Bay and hung out playing dominoes at Maren's that afternoon (and all but Docia drank a lot of beer-what else was there to do?). For dinner, we visited Grand Marais and had dinner at Gunflint Trail bar. We completely abandoned all tradition regarding our stops & food for the weekend, but it was still a lot of fun to hang out all together. Sunday morning, we left Maren at her cabin as her dad was coming up in a few days and she wanted to stay there. So, the rest of us headed home, had lunch at Bettys pies, and picked up our kids at Green Lake.
