Katie & Kevin (aka Smokey) got married this weekend! Anna was a flower girl in the wedding and we were so honored to be part of the big day.
Since the ring bearer, Ethan, (Katie's cousin on the other side) lives close, we got together for a park play date on Thursday so the kids could get to know each other a bit. They loved playing together.
Friday night was rehearsal. Anna & Ethan did a stellar job practicing. We continued the celebration at Smokey's brothers house for dinner. Smokey's dad, Dave, served his traditional buffalo dip and great grilled jalapenos & ribs! Alex & Anna loved playing with Ethan and his 2 bigger brothers, Carter & Charlie.
Saturday morning, it was the wedding day. Anna and I got our hair done at 10. We went to the church at 12, had lunch and took pictures. That was a little rough as we were outside and it was boiling hot!! We cooled down (straight down to the diaper for Anna), played in the church for a bit and then it was wedding time.
Anna did a great job walking down the aisle (and she never got a nap!), stayed in front for a while and really did us proud. We only had Alex with us during the wedding and then he went to grandma & grandpa's for the night (thanks again!). We checked into our hotel after the wedding and headed to the reception. Keep in mind, anytime Anna went into the car, she was only in her diaper--it was too tricky getting that dress into the car seat!
We had a great time at the reception and were able to sit with Pam, Dick, Jeremy and Tim! Once Anna figured out she could dance on the dance floor with all the kids, that's all she wanted to do. She had a great time, and wore herself out. By 9:45, after the dollar dance, she finally asked to leave. Paul took her to the hotel and Kristin & I partied until the very last song. In fact, we were the last ones to leave!
What a great celebration. Katie & her family have been through a lot over the last 2 years and we were so happy to share in this great celebration and thankful she has fully recovered after her accident.
