Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day weekend at both cabins...the kids were so ready to go up to the lake again! They knew exactly what to bring. Kristin & I met early Friday morning to head up to Deer Lake together, with a stop at Paninos for lunch, mcdonalds for ice cream and the infamous donut shop in Lynstrom. Made it up to Deer Lake in the early afternoon, had rests and woke up once Pam, Jodi & Daisy were there. We were so happy to have Jodi in town for Memorial Day weekend!! Grandma Haertel, Paul, Katie & Smokey, Tim & Kate (and their dog Libby), and Dick all came up by the time the night was done. We enjoyed blue cheese burgers for dinner and a good game of Oh Hell.

Saturday was a great day to be on the lake. It's not very often on Memorial Day weekend that I'm willing to get in the water, but I was jumping in since it was so hot. The kids got their first ride on the boat for the season. Alex had a new life jacket, but it didn't make it any more enjoyable for him on the boat. Paul & I were also able to kayak and swim. When the kids got up from their nap, it was time for the funky sprinkler that wiggles around. Everyone had fun running through that, although Alex would only go if he was being held! Had to fit rice krispies, a sunset tour of the lake and a bonfire to cap off a perfect day at deer lake!

Sunday morning, we headed over to Green Lake to spend the next part of the weekend with Paul's family. Craig, Tiff, Katelyn, Brooklyn, Logan and Bella all joined in the fun. Grandma & Grandpa kept the kids busy-checking out frogs, going on adventures, playing in the lake, and playing. I'm not sure who slept harder after our time there was up! On Monday, we got our first trip on papa's boat for the season. By then, Alex had warmed up to his new life jacket and wasn't as scared of the boat.
